Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide active threat response training for universities and colleges?

Yes. Active Shooter Response Solutions specializes in active threat response training for higher education institutions nationwide. Our programs serve both secular and faith-based universities, liberal arts colleges, community colleges, and large research institutions. We offer BECON™ faculty and staff training, campus public safety officer training, student preparedness programs, Threat and Vulnerability Assessments (TVAs), and full-scale active threat rehearsals. Every program is custom-built for the specific campus environment.

What is a Threat and Vulnerability Assessment (TVA)?

Threat and Vulnerability Assessment (TVA) is your gateway to grant funding. It’s a comprehensive evaluation of a university or corporate campus that identifies physical security vulnerabilities, gaps in emergency response infrastructure, and weaknesses in active threat preparedness. Active Shooter Response Solutions TVAs evaluate building entry points and access control, sight lines and surveillance coverage, emergency communication systems, existing emergency action plans and policies, perimeter security, and active threat response capability across your campus. The assessment produces a detailed written report with prioritized recommendations.

What is BECON™ training?

BECON™ is ASR Solutions' proprietary active threat response framework developed from real-world law enforcement and Special Forces experience. BECON™ stands for Barricade, Escape, Control, Oppose, Notify — a structured decision-making framework that prepares faculty, staff, and students to respond effectively to an active threat in their specific environment. Generic Run-Hide-Fight programs are easy to remember in the moment, but can lack instrumental details and decision making abilities of the individual. BECON™ is interactive, in-depth, and designed to build genuine situational awareness and confident decision-making rather than a reactive survival instinct.

Does ASR Solutions provide training for church security teams?

Yes. Active Shooter Response Solutions provides active threat response training specifically designed for church security teams. We work with churches of all sizes and denominations, delivering both armed and unarmed active threat response protocols, sanctuary and facility layout assessment, congregation protection strategies, and scenario-based drills. ASR Solutions also works with other houses of worship such as mosques and synagogues. Training is led by Army Special Forces veterans and law enforcement professionals who understand the unique environment and mission of faith communities.

Who founded ASR Solutions and what are their qualifications?

Active Shooter Response Solutions was founded by Kyle Sproles, a 13-year Army Special Forces (Green Beret) veteran and Messiah University alumnus. Kyle served as a Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha (ODA) team member across multiple combat and non-combat deployments and currently serves as a National Guard Special Forces close quarters battle (CQB), firearms, and driving instructor. The ASR Solutions team includes law enforcement veterans, SWAT officers, emergency management professionals, and individuals who have survived active shooter incidents in the United States, including the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting. Kyle has curated the single best team of experienced individuals possible in order to provide you with the best training available in the United States.
